Biography:

It’s not everyday a band forms via myspace and comes together to make the music they enjoy.

Comprised in the college town of Eugene, Oregon ROOTDOWN jams along in the garage of lead singer Paul "Pdub" Wright’s pad. Drawing on many influences ROOTDOWN’s biggest inspiration comes from reggae. A band that's only been around for a couple months has covered a lot of ground touring and down the west coast, recording a 4 song EP and releasing it for free on their own label Ocean Ave Records.

Zane Fischer (guitar, vocals) discovered Pdub's music on myspace jamming along to the smoothreggaestyle song on his profile and met up with him at a show he was playing in Portland, Oregon. The two talked about starting a band making more of that feel-good-kind-of-music. When Pdub moved back to Oregon from the sandy shores of San Diego spring of 07 it put a smile on Zane's face.

"But it was just talk at this point. No real moves or action just a vision of playing the music we both are drawn to," says Pdub. "This kind of music you can't fake or learn in school. You just feel it and go with that feeling."

In addition to the dynamic duo, an invitation was extended to Jesiah (keys) who joined the band in the summer moving across country from the shores of New Jersey. And how did Pdub meet Jesiah? Myspace of course. Jesiah caught Wrights attention when he won a contest remixing a song posted on Pdub's music site, 'Flip-Flops'.

The bands structure is supported by roommates Craig and Fish who joined the band because well they didn't have anything else to do. That's not entirely true. Both Fish and Craig stay busy touring with several nationally known artists. Tim Hemphill, a well known and respected trumpet virtuoso from Eugene adds horns and percussion.
